Advice | Crafting with Boys

by , posted on June 5th, 2012 in Arts & Crafts

A writer recently contacted me asking for some tips and tricks for crafting with boys this summer. I said, “Suuuuure! I have a few.” So I sent them over and badda bing badda boom here’s a link to the article. I’m joined by my friend Allison from All for the Boys who offers up some brilliant tips!

Oh! But I did save an exclusive tip just for you CP readers. Ready for it? Listening to a Star Wars record while crafting toooootally helps. Of course.

Congrats on the article–it’s awesome!! I SO needed to read this so I can get ready for Oliver. Right now, he’s off the hook into EVERYTHING and our only form of “crafting” is a few scribbles on paper. Hopefully when he’s a bit older (just 21 months now) he’ll get into it more.
It’s weird (and I guess every child is different) but I didn’t want to admit that there were stereotypical gender differences–but the truth is, he’s all about sound effects and cause and effect and banging things around. The girls were honestly really different. It’s been fascinating.

We have that record player too! Love it. I’ve also found that I can’t direct AT ALL. I just have to give them supplies and let them go at it. Thanks for the tip about the Star Wars record.
