Alt Design Summit

Next week, I’m hopping on a plane and heading to the Altitude Design Summit in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I’m kind of nervous.
I’ve learned to accept some things about myself over the years. The biggest one is this: I’m crap at being succinct. I use extraneous words when I write and talk. Actually, when I talk it gets even more confusing.
I’ve been told (on numerous occasions) I talk waaaaaay too fast. Once, I listened to a conversation between a group of my cousins and I realized it must be chromosomal. I’m also a bit of a loud talker. Which is great when you’re delivering a speech about autism/behavioral therapy to a bunch of bored psych majors in a university lecture hall. It’s terrible everywhere else.
I think I’ve made my point. I need a filter.
So to avoid embarrassing rambling, I’ve developed a plan. Well, actually a paper. It’s an 8-page tabloid sized paper that features some of our favorite CP! activities. The cover reflects the four pieces inside: sunsets/star gazing, movie night, farm field trip and popovers. And of course the glitter is my nod to Alt. Inside there are photos and brief introductions to each piece and QR codes (oooh! so fancy) for people to scan to get the full story here.
The back features a movie poster for the Red Balloon short we made last spring. It also has a QR code so people can watch the film right there on their smart phones.
The best part of this project: It was one of the first Dave and I worked on where everything went really smoothly. I only had one freak out. And Dave? He actually encouraged me to use glitter. I know! That stuff never goes away.
I should have a few extra copies for you guys. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, can you do me a favor and cross your fingers that the trip goes smoothly and I don’t embarrass myself too much.
One more thing: if you’ll be at Alt, let me know and I’ll save a paper for you. There’s a creative craft project on the inside I think you’ll enjoy.
Deep breaths…

YAY! Deb, I’m so happy for twitter too. Now I’ll know at least one person there.
