Friday Night in Baltimore

by , posted on October 8th, 2012 in Parties & Celebrations

On Friday night, I did a crazy thing, I hosted a lifestyle/design blogger meet up. I’ve been extremely fortunate to attend a few conferences this past year. After each one, I’ve walked away with new colleagues (many of whom I now call friends), energy and ideas. I wanted to pay that forward here at home, knowing not everyone is able or ready to trek to a conference to make those connections.

Plus, I really wanted a fun night out.

While I know pictures of events can make people feel bad, like hey! look at all the fun we’re having, I’m posting these to encourage you to host your own get-together in your town.

Invite like-minded folks and those who inspire you. Ask a local business to host it and bring along a little craft* for people to break the ice. You’d be surprised what can happen when you just ask.

Many, many thanks to Trohv for providing such an incredible space for the event. And a huge thanks to everyone who came out!

*We made mini mummies to go along with a mini Halloween themed basket for guests to take home. They were pretty ridiculously cute. Check out the mini witch hat and bunting tutorial to make your own.

That looks so fun…I am actually attending a blogger meet up in the South of France this weekend. 2 expat bloggers organized a luncheon on Saturday for those of us in France. It’s turning into a nice weekend away for me! I’m sure it will be fun – it will be my first! Thanks for the inspiration and calming my nerves a bit….always a bit intimidating meeting up with new folks.

Oooh, that sounds heavenly. Have a wonderful time! I have no doubt you’ll enjoy yourself and wonder how you can make these sorts of meet ups happen more frequently.

Yay! I had a great time too and the mummy was a big hit with my kids! Any chance you’re planning to post a roundup of links? I didn’t exchange info with everyone new that I met and, although I was glad to not be the only one to forget my cards, there are some blogs that I’m not already reading.

PS I’m pretty sure that I am actually saying I can’t hear you not just that it looks that way :)
