packing-a-hospital-bag-for-delivery

Things around these parts are getting pretty exciting as we are quickly approaching the arrival of our daughter. We have just a few weeks to go and have the hospital bag packed and ready. We’ve read articles about absolute essentials to bring and have talked to friends and I think we’ve done a pretty good job not going overboard and feeling prepared at the same time.

For Mama:
1. Lansinoh Lanolin Cream, nursing pads (for the breastfeeding mama) and a picture guide of laboring positions
2. Nursing bra and nursing tank
3. Travel toiletries
4. Comfy clothes for a couple day hospital stay
5. Slippers
6. Sweet notes from my family to read after baby is born
7. Water bottle

For Baby:
1. Going home outfit
2. Nununu beanie for keeping that little head warm in the hospital
3. Angel Dear lovie
4. Aden and Anais Bamboo Swaddle blanket

Not Pictured:
Boppy nursing pillow
iphone for keeping friends and family up to date and for my labor playlist
Husband’s overnight clothes
Our Canon 5D
A few healthy snacks

What am I missing?

I would highly recommend the My Brest Friend nursing pill

    Oops, comment got cut off.

I would highly recommend the My Brest Friend nursing pillow vs the boppy, because it offers back support and a firmer surface for putting baby right where she should be. If you ever want to try mine (I have 2, not in use) let me know. Definitely worth a comparison!

One other addition is a reusable zipper bag (I like RuMe) for all the little keepsakes you will take home (hospital bracelet, first hat etc) !

Can’t wait to hear the news soon! xo

    Lindsay,

Men’s tube socks. The stirrups can be cold and these are great – if you get blood or anything on them just take off, throw away, put on more :)

Also, granny underwear and large maxi pads for aftermath to get you home. Even after my last minute Csection the aftermath still comes the other way.

If you have the boppy already don’t sweat – I found them great. Most of all – don’t worry, you’ll do fine! Keep us updated.

Good ideas! I would not have thought of the socks but it makes total sense. Thanks for the tips!

Oh I don’t even know you and just stumbled upon your blog, but I’m excited for you! The stuff you’re taking is great! Way to not over-pack. With my first it looked like we were moving in. With my second I under-packed and found I needed a couple more outfits. You might want to throw in another pair of pj pants, another nursing tank and a robe. The robe is great if you find yourself laboring in the hospital. Good luck; you’ll be great! :-)

Thank you! I’ve heard I need to throw a robe in from several people- great suggestion! :)
