Happy Friday!

Friday, April 20th, 2012

What’s that you say? It’s Friday? Yippee! Let’s get this weekend party started, shall we?

Collection of scenes from the week [above]:

1. “You named your dog Winnie after the character on The Wonder Years?” Why yes, yes we did. Come here Winnie Cooper. 2. Belizean chocolate Dave brought back from his trip. Available only in Belize. Sorry, that’s just mean isn’t it? 3. Most favorite Target shopping expedition ever! 4. My daughter found a box of cassettes, so we had a little history lesson. “How does this thing work?”

And now for the links:

How to avoid the comparison trap (via Say Yes to Hoboken) I want to give Becka a big old hug for writing this. Although, a stranger coming up to bear squeeze you might be a tad, er, off-putting. I might just go for it anyway.

Love love looooove this art show!

Gorgeous photography and subjects.

Summertime and feeling of your tummy doing flips? Nothing better.

If you click on only one link in this bunch, make it this one.

Have a magnificent weekend everyone!

Did you know I’m teaching a class this Wednesday on Writing and Finding your Voice through the Alt Channel? It’s a great class for anyone who wants to feel more confident in their writing or is struggling to find their online voice.

It’s $15 and you can take it in your PJs. What’s not to love?! There are some spots available. Go sign up! I’ll see you there.

Scenes from the Weekend

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Today, Dave is in Belize filming a piece about coral reefs. So yesterday was a mash up of packing, egg hunting, and family gathering. It was kind of bizarre. In the midst of it all, we tried find some moments of mellow. People, I’m not going to lie or sugar coat it. It wasn’t easy.

But finally, at the end of the day, the moment came. Sitting on the couch, watching TV, drinks in hand. Packed bags and gear sitting by the front door. Kids quietly dreaming upstairs.

I wanted to soak in that moment forever.

Happy Friday!

Friday, April 6th, 2012

The kids have decided to start an interior design company. They’re naming it Joellie. For a small fee (“We’ll charge kids $1, adults $2, since adults have more money than kids, usually“) they will design your room. The design above is based on a chair they saw at Home Anthology. That or Mad Men. It’s hard to say. These days, it seems everyone has Mad Men fever.

Other designs include:

Library Room
Jungle Room
Outside Room
Picnic Room
Submarine Room
Roller Coaster Room

I wonder if for an extra dollar or two, they’d combine themes? Just think! A Library-Picnic-Submarine oasis, right in your very own home. These kids might just be onto something…

To the links!

Beautifully illustrated A to Z poster. Wouldn’t this make a great baby shower gift for your modern loving friends?

AN-I-MALLLLLL!

Going Confetti Crazy: A Primer for Confetti Lovers. I like!

Teaching kids about money can be tough. Erin has some excellent ideas for keeping it simple.

The trailer for this book made my day.

PEEP TOWER!

And last, but not least… Very excited for our friends Brian and Roger who successfully funded their kickstarter campaign. Take a peek…

DC, you’re about to get a wicked cool Pop Shop. Lucky ducks!

The rest of you, keep your eyes on these guys. I predict they’ll give Ben and Jerry a run for their money. Ps. Dave put their video together (you can watch more of his kickin’ video work here) and brought me along to play boom operator. I told the guys it was tooootally my mic holding skills that made people want to invest. Obviously.

Wishing you all a marvelous weekend. Happy Passover and Easter!

Happy Friday!

Friday, March 30th, 2012

I have two objectives this weekend:

1. Make frames for artwork for a children’s art show I’m putting together. Fair warning, pretty sure you’ll hear a LOT about the show over the next couple weeks. My first try at ‘curating’ a kids artwork gallery was online. Now, I’m trying it out in the community.

-annnnnnnd-

2. Engage in some April Fools’ Day foolery.

In fact, I’ve been collecting a few ideas…

April fools day surprise in a box

Hey kids! We’re having sushi for dinner tonight.

Here’s a ketchup and mustard DIY prank the kids can make themselves

Norman Rockwell was a prankster too.

A list of the top 100 April Fools’ Day hoaxes of all time.

And make sure you check out our very own April Fools’ Day post. It features four of my all-time favorite breakfast pranks like confetti eggs and magically sliced bananas.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ralph Waldo Emerson quote available through the Wicked Paper Co on etsy

This weekend is supposed to be filled with rain. While normally this makes me feel all melancholy and whatnot, I’m excited to have some of this pollen washed away. AH-choooo!

Okay, let’s start with the big news…

The Alt video classes for April are up. And I’m teaching one! [I KNOW! Craziness] The class is on writing and finding your voice. I haven’t taught a class in forever, so I’m pretty psyched. The course is $15 and limited to 100 people. You can chat, ask questions and meet other super amazing people like yourself. It should be a blast!

In other news…

Check out this street. I’m completely smitten! Many, many thanks to Estelle for having me over.

The little Makego app I told you guys about? It’s free this weekend. Freeeee!

Absolutely worth the read, especially given what’s happened these past couple of weeks. via Design Mom

Stay/va-cationing in Baltimore this Spring Break? Here’s a list of family friendly stuff to check out while you’re here.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

PS here’s the link to buy the print above. I’m ordering one this afternoon. Now to figure out what size I want…

Scene from last weekend. Just like an M.C. Escher painting.

You’ll have to forgive me today. It’s was strange week and my mind is… Actually, I have no idea where it is. Should be interesting to see where this post goes today then, huh? Let’s get right down to it:

Great list of iphone/pad apps for kids

A clever alternative to the old Lego + bare feet = OW!! Who left these Legos all over the floor?! problem

Well hello there green machine.

Do you read Bloesem Kids? I love them.

A Mother-Daughter photography project. And also, a bunch of animals.

And this made me smile…
