Toys Worth Buying | Tea Sets

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

What’s cuter than a kid sitting down with a few of his or her favorite friends (real, stuffed or imaginary) for a tea party? It’s classic imaginative play. Kids act out a scene, role play and gain independence by serving themselves. Here are a few sets that have recently caught my eye. How cute are they?!

Toy Worth Buying (for you): UpSwing

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

Readers, this swing has I’m an Eames documentary watching designer with tattoos living in an uber hip city irreverently scrawled all over it. In capital letters no less. So naturally I WANT ONE. Roll your eyes if you must, but forget the kids, I’d rock that swing.

What do you think? Crazy or crazy cool? (via Kevin Shay)

Toys Worth Buying: Marble Runs

Thursday, June 14th, 2012

I’m all about making your own toys and games (obvs!), but sometimes, you need a gift idea or want to switch things up a bit. You know I’m also all about keeping things interesting *wink* so, I thought why not dedicate a new column to toys worth buying?

Why call it Toys Worth Buying? Well, because there’s a lot of junk out there. I want to help you sift through it to discover the toys that are actually worth spending your hard earned cha-ching on.

First up, marble runs. This past spring I made a mega magnetic one and the kids loved it! But truth be told, I don’t always want an easel-sized marble run cluttering up my living room. Dear readers, even I have my limits. So instead, here are four smaller, yet no less impressive, marble runs that get high marks in beauty, function and fun.
