Children’s Art Show

Classic Play Kids Art Show from Dave K Cooper on Vimeo.

Last Friday, I got to put together a community art show featuring children’s work. I found a place to donate space, contacted art teachers to pull together some of their student’s work and enlisted some friends to help.

It was inspired by my son saying he wanted to open a kids’ art gallery. A friend said, “That kid is onto something. You should contact the cafe and see if they’re interested in hosting.” It snowballed from there.

Now, is it crazy to put on an art show because one of your kids mentions it? Well, yeah, it is. But it’s my kind of crazy. I figure if a kid comes to you with a dream that you can help turn into a reality? Well, that’s a lesson for life. If you dream it, and you work towards it, and you enlist the help of friends to get it done, you can accomplish just about anything.

Many thanks to all the kids, art teachers, parents, Atwater’s cafe, Dave, and my friends Jen, Danielle and Laurie.

When a community rallies, it can create something beautiful.

You are soooo inspiring! What an incredible idea. And on top of that, what an incredible and amazing execution. And on top of THAT, THE cutest video of the event.

Would you consider doing a post on the “how to’s” of putting something like this together? Maybe we could all do on in our own home towns.

I agree with Sandra. I am so inspired by this. I already sent a link to my daughter’s art teacher, and we are planning to get together to discuss trying something similar. What a cool thing for the kids. Looking forward to your “how to” post, and any advice you might be able to share.
