Countdown to School: Paper Chain

by , posted on August 10th, 2010 in Ideas and Inspiration

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. – Dr. Seuss

The new school year is just around the corner. Build excitement and nurture enthusiasm for heading towards school with a paper chain.

You’ll need:
Paper
Scissors
Tape or Glue

Step 1
Cut paper into strips

Step 2
Turn each strip into a circle and tape or glue.

Step 3
Thread paper through circles to make chain as long as necessary.

Step 4
Hang. Each night before bed, have your child remove one chain. As the chain is taken off, ask the kids what they’re most looking forward to and what, if anything, they’re anxious about. By talking to them, you can allay fears, problem solve ahead of time, share your own school stories and most importantly connect with your kids.

Share your tips for preparing for the first day of school on the aMuse toy store Facebook fan page. I’ll see you there!
