I too have been very discouraged by my gardening efforts, but I am still so inspired by the *idea* of gardening.

Your last line is my favorite. So much depends on all of us doing our part.

Oooh I wanna come! We have a garden plot here in our community garden and despite the lack of success last yr, we’re coming back for more this year. I’m splitting the farm up with a friend (who is also a fantastic chef) this year and am just so hopeful. Almost giddy about it. We ride our bikes over almost daily to see whether a leaf has grown or a tomato flower opened. We’re also considering a weekly Garden Supper Club where we have dinner parties and share our crops with friends

I wish I could go to Sue’s party. I have loads of cabbage from our garden that I could contribute (not that my kids or anyone else’s would eat it). For anyone interested in getting a garden started, I highly recommend reading The Square Foot Gardener, especially if you don’t have great soil. We’ve had lots of success with ours, and it doesn’t take a ton of space.

Thanks Cheryl! OOoh I hope Sue will have some pictures of how her party turned out too! I bet it’ll be adorable.

I’m thinking of doing something like this a little later when our weather is more stable. Perhaps that’s how we’ll get our garden finally started this year.
