Happy Friday!

It’s a party weekend for us Coopers. Tonight we’re throwing Ellie a little surprise party. Tomorrow night, she’s having a party with her friends. The friend party is movie themed. The film du jour? Herbie the Lovebug. But tonight? Family members are just going to show up unexpectedly. I hope she gets a kick out of it.

Now that the kids are older the kid + family parties have become…well, they’ve become crazy. The grandparents never get time with the birthday girl and I end up running around shouting, “OUR NEXT ACTIVITY IS” and “EVERYONE SETTLE DOWN SO YOU CAN HEAR THE INSTRUCTIONS” and “PLEASE STOP THROWING ROCKS.” You know, the usual party fare. So my big plan is to separate the parties this year—one for family, one for friends. That’s right, back to back parties. Let’s see how this goes.

LOVE that math trick. Bit of a numbers geek here.

Last week we had a meeting at the girl’s school to teach us parents how they will be learning math. It’s SO much smarter than how we learned it. We were ALL about rote memorization.
