Happy Friday

Friends, something really crummy happened yesterday. Our 5-year-old chihuahua, Winnie, broke her leg. We have no idea how it happened. We arrived home after picking Dave up from the train and she was sitting on the floor with her leg pointed in the wrong direction.

We immediately picked her up and took her to the emergency vet clinic. The kids were freaking out wondering if she was going to die. Dave was freaking out thinking about how much it was going to cost us. I was freaking out that everyone was freaking out. It was bad. Meanwhile, Winnie just sat on my lap wagging her tail like nothing was going on. She’s a funny dog, that one.

After a few hours at the clinic, a mega dose of meds, xrays and several hundred dollars (ouch!), we were sent on our way. Today we have to take her to the regular vet who will no doubt refer us to a surgeon. I know people who love their pets like they do their kids. I don’t fall into that camp. I mean she’s a great dog, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t hear the sound of a cash register every time I saw the vet walk into the room. Although, to be fair, I hear the sound of a cash register every time we take the kids to the doctors too. So maybe I do love the dog as much as the kids…

Anyway, for now, Winnie is resting comfortably on her fluffy pillow. She’s enjoying all the extra attention she’s getting. Which is totally okay with me. The girl deserves it.

And now the links…

Great links this week! Thanks especially for sharing that amazing and touching movie short! I love stuff like that…sort of reminded me of two other little “shorts” they are actually music videos, but made as shorts… I think they are fun to watch (and listen to also…) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxWxiuJRApU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw_ncZAYRSM Enjoy, have a great weekend!

Thanks Jane! It’s amazing to watch what artists can do with paper cuts and puppets. I’m in awe.

First of all, I am so sorry about Winnie! Oh no! I hate you guys had to go through that. :-\ Glad her leg is fixed and she’s resting/feeling better. Poor little thing.

I grew up on a small farm so I know what you mean about pets versus kids. I mean, we loved our animals SO much but we only really had cats to keep the rats out of the barn. That being said, in my old age, I’m kind of getting fru-fru about pets–and the kids are working on me for a dog! Awww, who am I kidding–I totally want a poodle.

And just so you know, you KNOW you have a good blog when one of your contributors can’t stay away in her “off” time. I always love your links! Kids President is a riot!

Happy weekend Cooper fam! Glad Winnie is on the mend!

Me too! I have to take to a surgeon on Monday. I’m hoping a) it’s not as bad as they think and b) it’s not as expensive as I fear.
