Happy Friday!

What a week. The snow we were expecting never came. It was pretty disappointing. Not that I wanted to shovel 8 to 10 inches of the stuff, but I was hoping to have a cozy snow day or two. Ah well, next year.

Are you up to anything fun this weekend? The kids have birthday parties, so that will keep us busy. As for me? I want to find some Moroccan food. I’ve been thinking about it since Jillian’s post. Speaking of posts, I also want to start a kids’ book club and do this art project. I may need to pace myself…

Here are some things that caught my eye this week:

The image up there is from Dave’s new site! Check it out, it’s gorgeous. And yes, I’m tooootally unbiased.

First Jennifer Lawrence now Mila Kunis. I like this trend of being real.

I don’t know if I could go sugar free for a month, but it is tempting when I see recipes like this

Priming your kids’ creative pump

Learning to be a more adventurous parent

This post generated a good discussion about tooth fairy gifts on facebook. You all are a creative bunch!

A whimsical approach to teaching math

A friend and I went to see this amazing show. I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Now, you can listen to the podcast! You’ll laugh, cry and have your heart melted—it’s parenting.

Are you on instagram? You can follow me @classic_play for behind the scenes shots (ever wonder what it looks like when the camera pulls back from a craft shoot?) and what we’re up to on the weekend.

Here are some things I wrote for Spoonful this week:
-Boredom busting (and clever way to develop kids’ storytelling skills) finger puppets. I share my secret tool for making them. Easiest thing ever.
-Let the luck of the Irish be with your kids this St. Patrick’s Day with these Lucky You! Scratch Offs. So cute!
-Start a new tradition this Easter with a breakfast buffet. The kids will talk about it for years to come. It’s the little things…

Have a great weekend everyone!

I gave up sugar for lent ;) And then I had to bake Desi’s birthday cake – the 3 layer chocolate one you saw on my site.I was good – hubby tasted the batter and the icing before I assembled it. And I’m making Apple Doughnuts this weekend for my blog…yikes!

I saw the apple doughnuts. They sound delish!

I’ve never tried to go sugar free for more than a day. The thought scares me.

I know, right? I always think about these celebrities and wonder what they’re really like. It’s nice to know that some are just as funny/likable as they appear.

All four of the Coopers are so photogenic!

Thanks for including me as well – you are too kind. Wait, no one can be TOO kind, right?

Love the design of Dave’s website too. So clean.

Thanks Sandra! He worked with an editor on it. I love how it turned out.

And as far as too kind goes… I think I scared someone once when I was too kind. I was driving and saw a young woman walking down the road in POURING rain. I pulled over and offered her my umbrella because I was in the car and had an extra (one from a conference or something). Anyway, I think in that situation I was “too kind” because she kinda freaked out. To be fair, I probably would have too.
