On the Bookshelf: What Inspires You?

I love books. I mean, who doesn’t right? I love looking around the house and seeing beautifully designed books that Dave and I have collected over the years. They’re filled with great ideas and always make me think. I find myself referencing them again and again. Here are a few of my favorites:

Kid Made Modern
Hands down, my favorite craft book. Forget the kids, I want to do all the projects in it.

Steal Like an Artist
This book helped me find my voice. No small feat.

Daring Greatly
I have a major girl crush on Brené Brown. There I said it. I know, you do too, right?! I credit her book with helping me get out there last year and whoa, what a year it was.

Jamie Oliver
I love all of his cookbooks. That’s right—all of them. I love the books’ layouts, photographs and his snappy way of writing.

The Innovators Cookbook
I actually reference this one quite a bit. It’s a brilliant collection of essays on creativity and like the title suggests—innovation.

Incidentally, I have zero parenting books in my collection. Although to be honest, in a way, I consider these books my parenting books—I’m able to find things in them that help me be a better parent. At least, I hope so anyway.

What about you? What books in your collection inspire you?

Tami, I read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane aloud to the kids and had to hide my tears. Such a beautiful tale. I would love to read it again.

And To Kill a Mockingbird is my all-time favorite novel. That’s one I’ve re-read several times. I have a huge soft spot for Southern Literature in general and that book in particular is incredible.

I always knew you were good people ;)

ps. I’ll have to check out Straight Man. Thanks for giving me something else to read!

I love my Nigella and Ina Garten cookbooks and I could never part with any of my vintage Needlework books. Not a single one of them :)

I’ve always loved Nigella. I’ve not tried her recipes but I sincerely appreciate her and her confidence in her body image. Love it.

And Ina? She taught me how to make the best darn gazpacho ever.
