Recently, I stumbled across a series of stories that became fast favorites in our home. The stories are those of the Fox and the Polar Bear (the Polar Bear being affectionately nicknamed Mrs. PB).

Each night before bed, it has become customary to check in and see what sort of zany adventure Mr. Fox and Mrs. PB had that day. The kids climb into my lap and watch the story of these two spirited characters unfold. We’ve held on as we imagined Mr. Fox and Mrs. PB speeding down a hill in their red flyer wagon. We gasped as we envisioned Mr. Fox flying through the air after Mrs. PB leaped from a tower of baked bean cans onto a makeshift catapult. We swapped our own strategies for how to best wrangle a crocodile after we pictured the maneuvers Mr. Fox had to employ to overtake the croc Mrs. PB’s had let loose.

After the red flyer adventure, my daughter requested I download the entire Wild Things song. As we danced around to the classic, I realized I had two imaginary characters to thank for the moment. Two imaginary characters who were created by two wonderfully creative storytellers.

Mr. Fox and Mrs PB’s human counterparts are Miss Emily and Mr Tom. The very lovely Molly from Charlotte’s Fancy recently interviewed Tom and Emily to learn more about the creative couple behind the Fox and the Polar Bear stories. They are as equally charming as the stories they create. Along with the blog, the two have created a flickr site where they post links to hear the story read aloud by either Tom or Emily themselves.

Filled with magical stories and fantastic photography, the Fox and the Polar Bear is a site you can’t help but visit over and over again.

Yay! Thank you so much for featuring us!

Mrs PB has already cracked open can of vintage celebratory beans.

We love the thought of you all checking Mr Fox and Mrs PB’s adventures each day ;o)

Mrs PB hopes she’s everyone’s favourite – and not Mr Fox!

    :o )
