Presidents’ Day Adventuring Disaster of 2012

What I hoped to see today: Sonia Delaunay. Plates 34 + 31, from the portfolio Compositions, Colors, Ideas. 1930. Color stencil.
Let me share a cautionary tale of Adventuring gone wrong. It’s one of those stories of waking up with a tattoo wondering how that happened. Kind of like a Hunter S. Thompson novel or that movie, The Hangover. Except, in this story you know exactly how it happened…
The kids had off school so we planned a trip to the art museum only to discover that ALL THE MUSEUMS IN BALTIMORE ARE CLOSED ON MONDAYS (and Tuesdays too). Ugh. Dave tried to cheer me up with an almond tea latte. It was good, but it was no Lichtenstein.

So we came home. The kids didn’t seem to mind the change in plans. They found some old packing boxes tucked away in the basement and, through the magic of scissors and duct tape, turned them into a tattoo/craft shop. I’m left to assume they combined storefronts because space is a commodity and rent is high. I also heard they had trouble with developing a mutually beneficial business plan.
The foot traffic in/around their room was light, so I stepped up to the window as their first customer. After five seconds or so in the chair, I walked out with a little ink. They did say the pen was washable, right???
My plans may not have worked out, but I have to say, I’ve had worse weekends. At least this one ended with a one-of-a-kind amorphous whale tattoo.
